San Ardo

After lots of excitement Linda Jackson TT’d off for the win. Most of the pack seemed relieved to have a calm ride to the finish. Relieved of attacking duties PAB were left with plenty of time to work on skills drills: bottom pinching and Champs d'Elysee style line riding.

Jill and Kelly hoped to assist India in Cal-Cup point pursuit. Escape of LJ for the win had no impact on this pursuit. Kelly and Jill were also having their own personal race: The DAP (Domestique Aptitude Points) Race. Kelly took 7/10 available points by riding 75% of all available race tempo. This was done whist smiling.

Things got a little "Jolly Rodger" on approach to the sprint. Jill, designated 'leadout', once again lost seasick, and now aft India. PA leadout, although it had velocity, was more focused on dislodging attached "Touchstone" than task at hand.

Detatchment efforts included chirping and swerving R-L-R-L whilst looking in backward at Touchstone. Perhaps sensing fluster, Lisa Hunt attacked at the base of the hill. Upon Lisa catch, Jill did an 10 second, highly-embarrassing-to Touchstone leadout attempt, on par with the PAB headless chicken effort. The sprinters, India included, charged up hill. Amber won field sprint for 2nd. Brooke 3rd, Shelley 4th, Stacey followed by India. Well done to Linda who won by about 10 minutes!

Next up…Bev, India and Kelly take on the Challenge Challenge.

An Update on Pen Puckett (formerly Pen Avril)

Penny has been super busy since retiring. The bulk of her time has been spent eating. She is on track to make her goal weight of 200lb for November English wedding. Keep up the good work Penny!

In order that Penny not slide too far down the slippery ladder of leisure:
Rings of Fire next week- on each of the five climbs the fastest rider will note their time. Penny must come within 10% of these times or shall no longer be known as ‘alpine' but 'powermasher.' *

Report to follow.

*please note that it is highly possible that Penny drops everyone on ride.

Oh, Jill ... you do exaggerate so. A real story on my retirement here http://www.abcycling.com/retirement.htm

Pet of the Week: Mojo out, Precious in.

Mojo dq'd from pet of the week after it was found he sported a "I hate cats" leash in the feedzone at University RR. Precious will 'fill-in' for the rest of the week.

Pet of the Week...

"Mojo Harper"

Rule Britannia (almost)

Beverely p/b a 3-week UK diet of fish & chips w/ second hand smoke, takes the field "sprint" for 4th at University Road Race. Welcome home Bev! Report to follow.

inappropriate?

Good manners, polite and kind to slow and hyperventilating riders: Taylor Tolleson won his race at Santa Cruz today, but was relegated after the finish, for inappropriate number placement. Is he the scapegoat for a new NCNCA campaign to increase pinning efficiency/decrease crumpling and folding? Congratulations to Taylor on the win.

For the love of Cal Cup

India, Jill and Kelly pay their respects to San Ardo. Details soon.
